Fruit and Gift Planner, Harry and David Stores
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for creating profitable sales, inventory and markdown plans and for tracking, forecasting and reacting to business trends. It provides analytical support to the buying staff to ensure a balance and profitable assortment and trains and develops Associate Planners and ensures optimum inventory levels by developing planning strategies that achieve departmental and company goals.This position is located in Medford, Oregon.
Essential Functions
- Partner with the channel and product merchants on the development of pre-season sales, markdown, margin, receipt and inventory.
- Develop assortment plans by category and business unit.
- Develop and monitor plans, projections, inventory flow, promotionalstrategies and seasonal sell-off plans.
- Develop projections and inventory flow for key items.
- Analyze and reflect current trends in performance of strategy based on actual sales performance; revise in-season plans for sales and profitability; control inventory levels.
- Partner with Merchants to develop and propose tactics in response to current business trends.
- Make recommendations for key financial meetings/decisions in order to maximize sales, margin and inventory productivity Monthly plan review process: develop sales, markdown, receipt and inventory re-forecasts.
- Manage and execute promotional and liquidation strategy.
- Formulate alternate event options.
- Manage receipts and adjust inventory flow.
- Communicate revisions within the team and cross functionally.
- Forecast monthly and seasonal plans for allocation, Open-to-Buy Plan and review.
- Exhibit initiative to look beyond the everyday business to look for opportunities to maximize sales potential.
- Provide other analysis related to driving business goals (e.g. hindsights, etc.)
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, and new developments in purchasing, and supply chain.
- Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations as budgets and time allows.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Education – Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Business, Finance or Operations. MBA or equivalent work experience desired.
- Experience
- A Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in: retail merchandise planning, demand forecasting; inventory management, allocation or replenishment; financial planning or financial analysis experience. 5 years of retail experience in assistant buying, or allocation; Merchant or merchandising experience desirable. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strong aptitude with numbers; retail math skills, understanding of forecasting methodology. Makes decisions with limited information but also able to synthesize large quantities of data to drive business decisions. Strong communication and presentation skills: concisely presents complex information/recommendations in terms meaningful to various audiences. PC proficiency with strong emphasis on Excel and Access. SAP proficiency desirable. Builds collaborative partnerships cross-functionally; identifies/influences critical stakeholders.
